Shower Stall Sizes
It's not just about what size is the shower stall you want to buy, it's also a matter of how many pieces it comes in. Single piece units may
be too big to fit through your bathroom door, multipiece units may not have the look you want. We found the perfect stall for our bathroom but it
didn't fit and the custom option to get close was about five times more expensive.
When you go looking for a stall, first know the exact measurements of the opening you have to put one in. Be careful about the listed
dimensions and some will give their size based on total space used, others will describe them according to rough opening. If you have an odd size
space to put one in, you will either need to buy a smaller one and stud out the extra few inches of wall space, or cut into the existing wall and
insert the stall those couple of inches.
Shower stalls come in a huge range of standard sizes. 34" corner units, flush wall units at 32" x 32" x 72 3/4", or really wide ones fit for a
tub at 60" x 34" x 75 3/4". Those measurements are listed to show length x depth x height.
Perhaps you want a neo angle shower stall. A common size is 38" deep, 72" heigh, 38" width. They are very symmetrical so the depth and width
are the same. That's quite common with units designed to fit in a corner, whether they are round, neo angle or square.
We found that it was easier to shop with our space measurements in hand, then work with the store designer to be sure we were buying the right
stall. Sometimes they'll even come to your house and measure for you so you're sure everything is right. That's great customer service.
